The Furman Prison Education Partnership (FPEP) brings higher education into carceral settings with the goal of creating a transformative experience for all involved. We believe people who are incarcerated deserve to have as full of lives as possible while incarcerated and after release. We also believe people who are unfamiliar with the American prison system will be transformed both by spending time within a carceral setting and by interacting with those who are incarcerated. Gifts to this fund will support educational opportunities for both Furman and incarcerated students, including courses for incarcerated students, classroom and course materials, transportation of Furman students to and from class sites, funding for guest speakers on mass incarceration, and preparation of Furman students for entry into carceral settings.
