Reunion Celebration Hats – FAQs

How much does the hat cost?

Each hat is $35; $10 goes towards the purchase of the hat, while a minimum of $25 plus any additional donation that may be added to the transaction is donated to Areas of Greatest Need. This donation represents a tax deductible contribution to Furman University. No other goods or services as defined by the IRS have been exchanged in consideration of this contribution. If you have questions about the deductibility of your gift, please consult your tax advisor.

What is the Areas of Greatest Need fund?

Furman depends on gifts made each year to support the tuition and operating costs for all students, athletic pursuits, research, study away, and internships. Donating to Areas of Greatest Need allows Furman to determine where donations need to be implemented throughout the fiscal year.

When can I purchase my hat?

Hats will be available for reunion class years ending in 0, 1, 5, & 6 now until Friday, October 15. Order yours before Wednesday, September 22 to guarantee pickup at Homecoming. Hats ordered after this date will be mailed to your home address.

When will I received my hat?

Hats ordered before September 22 will be available for pick up during Homecoming this October 22-24. Exact times and location for pick up will be communicated after October 1. Hats ordered after September 22 will be mailed to your home address.

My spouse/parent is also celebrating a reunion this year. Can I purchase more than one hat?

You are welcome to purchase/donate in honor of your spouse, parent, or child that is also celebrating a reunion this year. However, individual hats must be ordered in separate transactions. Simply order your first reunion hat, then return to the order page after you check out to make subsequent purchases.

May I make an additional gift to Furman when ordering the hat?

Yes! There is an option to make an additional gift designated to Areas of Greatest Need at the bottom of the Homecoming Registration page. If you would like to make an additional gift to Furman through a different fund, you may do so HERE.

Can I just purchase the hat?

The hats are only available for purchase by alumni celebrating a reunion milestone (classes ending in 0, 1, 5 & 6) with a minimum gift of $35 ($10 for the hat, $25 for Areas of Greatest Need).
